Milton Granger

Composer/Lyricist/Librettist

Milton Granger’s chamber operas have been produced by over fifty opera companies and university opera departments, and have received two first-place awards from the National Opera Association’s new opera competition. His musical plays have been professionally produced by several theaters in the U.S., and have been honored by the National Association of Musical Theater and the New York Musical Theater Festival.

In addition to his activities as a writer and composer, Milton Granger is a pianist and conductor who has worked in those capacities on five Broadway shows, four national tours, and over one hundred regional productions. He holds a Doctor of Music degree from Northwestern University, is married to stage director Mary Meikleham, and is the father of two children.

“Talk Opera”: “This hugely funny send-up of trashy TV talk shows deserves to be seen on as many stages as possible….dispatches political correctness with merciless relish. As with all fine comedy, there is serious intention behind the mayhem.”

“Castle Walk”: “Granger writes pointed scenes that waver appropriately between wistful and angry, and bewitching songs that evoke classic-Broadway ballads and torch numbers with haunting emotional authenticity.”
